New York born of Scottish Immigrants, John began his career studying Drama at the University of Texas at El Paso on scholarship, where he also led as quarterback of the Division 1A football squad. Upon finishing at University, his artistic path led him back to New York to continue his studies at Herbert Berghof Studios most notably under renowned character actor Bill Hickey. With John ‘The play has always been the thing’, and thus his career changed gears to explore challenging complex human relationships in his Writing. He has had several of his plays produced, and directed several others. His writing and directing has inspired critics as well, "...promising, heartfelt and intimate. Moving to Los Angeles he was a founding member of "The Impact Theatre Group" where he wrote and directed several of their productions. It was then he decided to explore his vision in the cinema. His first film took honors in New York at "The Hampton’s International Film Festival". His other projects have fared just as well at Film Festivals around the world. Always seeking to gain knowledge and expand his artistic skills John returned to his studies at The Los Angeles Film School graduating with Honors in both Directing and Cinematography.

Writer of four features with a variety of other projects in development, John’s work is intrinsically deep and vibrantly visual; it stems from an unquestionable understanding of mankind’s pain and pleasure principles and the rocky road they take us down within our own lives. His writings explore the inner demons and personal triumphs of the human soul. His vision and work behind the camera takes us on visually stunning journeys into the aesthetic worlds that ride the fence of reality and fantasy.; a unique spiritual plain, a world full of metaphor, imagination and sacred purpose. His characters struggle with life’s ultimate questions with a fluidity that seems natural yet somehow divine. It’s clear there is greater meaning behind each word and image.

John just completed his first feature film "Lunatics Lover’s and Poets" from his original script. Winner of "Best Screenplay Award" "The Method Fest Film Festival" Winner! "The Aloha Accolade Award" from The Honolulu International Film Festival, also it has just been selected to screen at "The Delray Beach Film Festival." As well as "The Big Island Film Festival" & Sarasota Fringe Film Festival.

His next two features both from original screenplays are in development, "The Third Heaven" a drama set in the South Pacific, and "Welcome to Sherwood" a Romantic Comedy will lensed in Florida. Both being produced by VP Madeline Cotter Smith for Tamderek Films LLC.
